The Grand Island Central Catholic girls basketball team will play for the Centennial Conference Tournament title on Saturday after a solid 52-38 win over Fremont Archbishop Bergan on Thursday.
It was especially impressive considering that leading scorer Alicia Statler sat all but about 10 minutes of the first three quarters due to foul trouble. Senior guard Tali Fredrickson stepped up and posted a double double to help the team advance to face Wahoo Bishop Neumann.
The Crusaders have faced an almost non-stop schedule of ranked teams. That should help as they try to add a third tournament title to their resume this season.
