WRESTLING: Wood River breaks Patriots' hold

Adams Central's run of consecutive Lou-Platte Conference wrestling tournament victories was finally halted at six last Saturday as Wood River edged the Patriots 149-143 for the team title at St. Paul.

Garret Lambrecht (103 pounds) and Dustin McCord (171) both won LPC titles at their respective weight classes to lead the way for Wood River. Kevin Harders (140) and Dylan Gill (145) added second-place finishes for the Eagles.

Still, you have to hand it to the Patriots, who came within seven points of winning a seventh consecutive LPC title. That's a pretty impressive run for coach Dan Lonowski and his program.

Congrats to the Eagle wrestling team. Your hard work and good coaching has showed throughout the year. This conference title has been a long time coming. Congrats to all Lou-Platte Conference wrestlers who placed. I don't remember seeing anything about the meet in the paper.
